Guruvayur Temple Timing

Gurvayoor Pooja DarshanGuruvayur temple follows an elaborate system of rites, which according to tradition, is traced to Sri Adi Sankaracharya. The temple is open at 3 am and closes after the day’s poojas and rituals around 10 pm. Normally there are five poojas and three circumambulatory (pradakśina) processions called Sreeveli of deity on elephant around the temple. During the days of Udayasthamana Poojas there will be a total of twenty one poojas.

Ucha pooja (the noon pooja)

TEMPLE WILL BE CLOSED BETWEEN 1.30PM to 4.30PM & REOPENS AT 4.30 PM

9.15PM THE SREEKOVIL WILL BE CLOSED.

On the day of Special Illuminations called “Vilakku” the Thripuka is performed after that. The Sreekovil will be closed after Thripuka. Then the Krishnanattam, a colourful traditional dance-drama on Lord Krishna’s life is enacted inside the Temple on specified days.

  1. Amazing temple, very peaceful. Usually there will be a very long queue is what I’ve heard but since i reached there before 4.30 am there was no queue at all, I could enter directly. So i would suggest you all to go before 4.30 am if possible because every minute after the queue starts getting longer and longer.

        1. I am 79, a senior retired Director and Senior Professor of Management from a leading Business School in Ahmedabad. My wife is 68, a Senior citizen again, retired Advocate in Gujarat High Court. We will be accompanied by 6 others on 1st April 2024. Being of old age and travelling long distance from Ahmedabad to Guruvayoor on 1st April 2023, I shall be obliged to you to provide VIP status to us. I shall contact the Manager upon arrival at the temple. Thank you!

  2. Iwant to visit guruvayur temple on 4th june at 2
    .40 pm. I am a senior citizen but my grandson will accompany me at what time darshan will be allowed.
